During the summer, I feel like every time I get on Instagram or Pinterest my news feed is flooded with images of the beach, cute outfits, and healthy food – especially, green smoothies. There is definitely a hype going around about green colored drinks!! Today I have for you a recipe that not only looks good enough to post on your Insta, it tastes and feels just as good!
If you do decide to share this beauty, you also get to caption your post with a phrase that will have everyone itching to try it: this green smoothie is made using doTERRA Essential Oils!!!
The Ginger Pear Green Smoothie is packed full of vital nutrients, fibers, and minerals to keep your body fueled and functioning properly. This smoothie is so easy and yummy—you’ll be craving it for breakfast every day this summer.
Spinach: Abundant flavonoids in spinach act as antioxidants to keep cholesterol from oxidizing and protect your body from free radicals, particularly in the colon. The folate in spinach is also good for a healthy cardiovascular system, and magnesium helps lower high blood pressure. Studies also have shown that spinach helps maintain your vigorous brain function, memory and mental clarity.
Pears: Most of the fiber in pears is non-soluble polysaccharide (NSP), which means that it acts as a bulking agent in the intestines. It accumulates the food and adds bulk so it is easier to pass through the intestines. Furthermore, it stimulates secretion of gastric and digestive juices so food moves through the body more smoothly.
Almond Butter: Some of the health benefits of almond butter come from its calcium and copper content. Both minerals play a role in brain cell communication and keep your nervous system functional. Calcium also aids in muscle function and keeps your skeleton strong. Copper enables you to make melanin, which is a pigment that helps protects your skin from the sun.
Ginger Essential Oil: To help support healthy joint function and for antioxidant benefits, add one drop of Ginger essential oil to your morning smoothies (like in this recipe!!). One common internal use for Ginger essential oil is to aid with digestion. Because of its soothing properties, Ginger oil may help reduce occasional nausea when taken internally – making it a good essential oil to carry with you on-the-go. Ginger essential oil may also help reduce bloating and gas when taken internally. You can diffuse Ginger oil in the essential oil diffuser to help create a balanced, grounded feeling. If you feel your energy lagging in the late afternoon, diffuse Ginger oil for an extra emotional boost.
